1. Jeep Safari: The Saklıkent and Tlos Route
The jeep safari is Fethiye's most popular adventure. Taking in Saklıkent Gorge, Gizlikent Waterfall and the ancient city of Tlos, it's a full-day tour packed with things to do.
Programme and Route
The jeep safari starts with an early hotel pickup, around 08:30. The order of the stops can change from day to day. At Saklıkent Gorge you walk through the icy water of the narrow, deep canyon; at Gizlikent Waterfall, famous for its crystal-clear water, there's time to cool off; and there are also stops at Yakapark, by a mountain stream, and for a mud bath. Lunch is included, and there's a water fight along the way.
Tlos, one of the most important cities of ancient Lycia, gives you the chance to see its ruins and learn about its history. The tour ends with the drive back, and you're dropped at your hotel between 18:00 and 19:00.
What's Included?
Hotel pickup and drop-off, a guide, lunch and insurance are included in the jeep safari. Entrance fees for Saklıkent, Tlos, Yakapark and Gizlikent aren't included and are paid on the spot. Along the way, the guides tell you about the history, geography and nature of the area.
Watch out: You'll be wet and muddy on the jeep safari. Bring a change of clothes and a towel, and wear shoes that can get wet.
2. ATV Safari: Forest Tracks and Off-Road Fun
The ATV safari is perfect for young adrenaline seekers and adventure lovers. Taking you along forest tracks, through valleys and over dusty, muddy trails, it's a fast, intense experience.
Who Can Take Part, and Safety Equipment
You don't need a driving licence for the ATV safari. Guests aged 16 and over drive the ATV themselves; children under 16 can ride as passengers behind their parent. Safety equipment such as a helmet is provided and must be worn. The guide explains the safety rules before you set off, after a short driving lesson, and leads the group the whole way, keeping a balance between speed and safety. There are morning, midday and late-afternoon sessions, the tour takes about 4 hours, and hotel pickup is optional (500 TL per person).
Who it suits: Adrenaline and adventure lovers, as long as the driver is 16 or over. It's also a great activity for groups of friends. The ATV safari runs all year round.
3. Horse Riding: Quiet Nature Trails in Ovacık
Horse riding is ideal if you want a calmer, more peaceful experience. You ride at an easy pace through the pine forests of Ovacık.
The whole outing takes about 3 hours. It starts at a farm in Ovacık and heads out on trails through the pine forest; there's no transfer, and we send you the meeting point on WhatsApp. Kayaköy isn't part of the route. You don't need any riding experience, as the horses are calm and well trained. Children can take part too (at full price), and the weight limit is 100 kg. You can choose a morning or an afternoon session, and the ride runs all year round.
In short: Horse riding is the best option if you want to get away from the rush of faster activities and enjoy nature at a gentle pace.
4. Adrenaline in Fethiye: Paragliding from Babadağ
Paragliding from Babadağ is Fethiye's most iconic adrenaline activity. You take off from around 1,700 metres on the world-famous mountain (the summit is 1,969 m) and fly for about 30–45 minutes over the turquoise water of Ölüdeniz.
Flights are flown by experienced, licensed pilots. The pilot handles everything technical, while you enjoy the experience and the view. During the flight you can see Ölüdeniz, Butterfly Valley and the islands around them.
Taking part is very simple. Prime Turist's flight has no age limit; for passengers over 100 kg a heavy-passenger pilot is arranged at extra cost, and the upper limit is 130 kg. There are very few physical restrictions. The photo and video package is optional (2,000 TL) and is included if you fly with a female pilot. Flights run all year when the weather allows.
5. Fethiye Boat Trip Routes: 12 Islands and Butterfly Valley
Fethiye's boat trip routes offer the widest choice of sea days in the area. There are trips with different themes, such as the 12 Islands tour, the Butterfly Valley boat trip and the pirate boat trip.
The 12 Islands Tour
The 12 Islands tour is a full-day trip from Fethiye harbour that explores the islands of the Gulf of Fethiye towards Göcek. It makes 4–5 swim stops, at Göcek Island, the Yassıca Islands, Kızılada and Aquarium Bay, and at each one you can jump off the boat for a swim.
Hotel pickup is between 09:00 and 09:45 (optional and paid); the boat leaves at 10:00, and you're back at your hotel between 17:00 and 18:00. Lunch is served on board and is included; drinks are sold on board. The boats have large decks and comfortable seating areas.
The Butterfly Valley Boat Trip
The Butterfly Valley boat trip is a full-day alternative leaving from Ölüdeniz pier at 10:00 or 10:30. It stops at the Blue Cave, Butterfly Valley (entry is extra), St. Nicholas (Gemiler) Island, Camel Beach, Aquarium Bay and Soğuksu Bay. The trip ends at around 18:00, and it's a great choice for photographers.
Tip: Always use sun cream on boat trips, and bring a hat, sunglasses and a light jacket. If you're prone to seasickness, take something for it beforehand.
6. Scuba Diving: Exploring the Underwater World
Scuba diving is perfect for anyone curious about the underwater world. You dive with professional instructors and don't need a certificate. You can see the sea life, rocky seabed and many kinds of fish around Fethiye.
Prime Turist's Ölüdeniz dive has three sessions a day (09:00, 12:00 and 14:00). After about 30 minutes of briefing and getting your equipment ready, you make one 20–30-minute dive, and the whole thing takes about 3 hours. The full-day dive trip from Fethiye includes two dives, at Aquarium Bay and Tarzan Island, with lunch and hotel pickup included.
Scuba diving requires reasonable physical health: heart disease, lung problems or pregnancy rule you out. On Prime Turist's dive tours, the minimum age is 12 in Ölüdeniz and 14 on the trip from Fethiye. Underwater photos and video are available as an extra.
7. Pirate Boat Trip: A Fun-Packed Day at Sea
The pirate boat trip puts fun and having a good time first. It uses large, pirate-themed boats, with music, dancing, entertainment and a foam party on board.
The Ölüdeniz pirate boat leaves the pier at 10:00 or 10:30 and the trip ends at around 18:00. It visits popular stops such as St. Nicholas (Gemiler) Island and Soğuksu Bay, with swimming at each stop. Lunch is served on board, and drinks, including alcohol, are sold on board. There's also a 12 Islands pirate boat trip from Fethiye.
Who it suits: Families with children and groups of friends looking for a lively, fun day at sea.
What to Bring on a Fethiye Safari
Good preparation matters on any Fethiye safari or adventure. Sun cream (at least SPF 50) is a must for every activity. A hat, sunglasses and a change of clothes are a good idea. Bring swimwear and a towel for activities on the water, and wear comfortable trainers and sportswear for activities on land.
A camera or smartphone is handy for recording the memories, and a waterproof bag protects your electronics. Always carry some money, ID and your insurance documents. If you take medication, bring it with you, and take a water bottle so you don't get dehydrated.
A good night's sleep and a decent meal before the activity will help you get the most out of it. Avoid alcohol the night before.
Accessible and Child-Friendly Alternatives
Fethiye has activities that many different visitors can enjoy. Boat trips are often the easiest option for guests with reduced mobility, but access varies from boat to boat, so tell us your needs before you book.
Most activities are suitable for children, though some have age limits. On Prime Turist's jeep safari, children aged 0–5 go free and 6–12-year-olds pay half price; it isn't suitable for pregnant women. Prime Turist's paragliding flight has no age limit. Horse riding is a calm option for children. Prime Turist's scuba diving tours are open to children aged 12 and over in Ölüdeniz and 14 and over on the trip from Fethiye.
If you have a disability or special needs, contact us before booking and we'll tell you honestly which tours are suitable. Some activities may not be suitable for certain needs.
Sustainable, Eco-Friendly Options
Protecting Fethiye's natural resources matters for all tourism. Some tour operators are cutting down on plastic and supporting recycling. On boat trips, help protect the sea by not touching or feeding the fish and taking your rubbish home.
Horse riding is a greener option than motorised activities. Butterfly Valley is a protected area, so special rules apply there. On the jeep safari, guides tell you about the area's plants and wildlife along the way.
Doing a Safari in Your Own Car (Self-Drive)
It's possible to explore the Fethiye countryside in your own car. Car hire companies offer all kinds of vehicles, and a self-drive day gives you independence and flexibility.
A self-drive safari has its challenges, though. You need to know the local roads well and use GPS or a map, and some places can be risky to explore without a guide. Ancient sites and protected areas charge entrance fees and have opening hours, so check them in advance. A self-drive safari suits experienced drivers and people who know the area.
Fethiye's safaris and adventure activities offer something for every kind of visitor. From young adrenaline seekers to nature lovers, families and couples, there's an ideal activity for everyone, with services that help you make the most of the day. Start planning and enjoy Fethiye's unforgettable adventures.
