Visiting Saklıkent Gorge with Children

Quick answer

Saklıkent can be visited with children, but the water at the entrance to the gorge is ice-cold and fast-flowing. With small children, stay on the wooden walkway and in the shallow areas of the first section, and bring non-slip water shoes and a change of clothes.

Visiting Saklıkent Gorge with Children

What's at Saklıkent?

Saklıkent is a gorge between high rock walls, about an hour from Fethiye. At the entrance there's a wooden walkway built over the water and places to rest.

Safety with children

The water coming out of the gorge is very cold even in midsummer, and the current is strong at the first crossing. Carry small children or hold their hands; only go further in with older children and a guide.

Mud bath

There's natural mud at some points inside the gorge, and children usually love this part. A change of clothes and a plastic bag make life easier.

What to bring

Non-slip water shoes (can be rented at the entrance), a change of clothes, a towel, sunscreen and snacks. A waterproof phone pouch helps.
